On February 3, 2025, the Greek Ambassador, Mrs. Despina Koukoulopoulou was warmly welcomed by the President of the Greek Community of Beirut, Mr. Panayotis Andriotis, and the General Secretary Mrs. Sofia Valasidou.
She visited the Heritage Room, museum dedicated to preserving the rich cultural history and traditions of the Greek community in Lebanon. The Ambassador took time to appreciate the exhibits, which reflect the community’s deep ties to Greek heritage.
The Ambassador’s visit marked Greek Language Day, an occasion to celebrate and promote the Greek language. She met with students and talked with them about the importance of maintaining the language as an essential part of identity and culture. She emphasized, “Where there is language, there is home”, underscoring the vital role language plays in connecting people to their roots and their history.
