On the occasion of the National Day of Greece occurring on Monday 25th of March 2024, a gathering was organized at the Greek Community’s premises in the presence of the Ambassador of Greece to Lebanon, Mrs. Despina Koukoulopoulou, the Ambassador of Cyprus to Lebanon, Mrs. Maria Hadjitheodosiou, as well as colleagues, close members, and students who organized a short video that took us back in time and gave us an insight into the crucial roles the heroes of the War of Independence of 1821 played to free their beloved country.

The Greek War of Independence was a revolution led by fearless Greeks combatting the rule of the Ottoman Porte. The slogan “Liberty or Death” was the winning drive those freedom fighters needed; it was their elixir to either regain their freedom or die in dignity!
Today, 203 years later, those words still resonate even stronger than ever.
This was also the theme of the drawing competition that was formerly launched in February.
The winners of the competition were announced during the event.
It was also an opportunity during which two former board members were honored for their contribution during their tenure at the Greek Community Mr. Hanemoglou Maurice and Mr. Petro Hadjigeorgiou.
A cocktail followed amidst a jovial ambiance.
